Lucretia. Texte zu einer römischen Frauenfigur (LAT-LW3-K2)

Die Figur der Lucretia gilt vielen römischen Autoren als ein exemplum virtutis und spielt somit eine bedeutende Rolle in römischen Idealvorstellungen einer Frau und ihrer Rolle in der Gesellschaft. Allerdings wurde der Lucretia-Stoff von verschiedenen Autoren durchaus verschieden behandelt, z.T. in Abhängigkeit von der jeweiligen literarischen Gattung, den literarischen (z.T. griechischen) Vorbildern und der Weltsicht des Autors. Im Zentrum des Seminars werden drei Texte stehen; sie stammen von Livius (Liv. 1,57-60), Ovid (Ov. fast. 2,721-852) und Augustinus (Aug. civ. 1,18-19). An ihnen werden verschiedene Perspektiven auf die Figur der Lucretia deutlich. Zugleich kann an diesen Texten die Entwicklung des Lucretia-Stoffs und seine Bereicherung durch Livius´ intertextuelle Anleihe an die herodoteische Geschichte von Gyges und Kandaules (Hdt. 1,6-13) untersucht werden. Zu diesen drei Texten treten im Rahmen des Lektürepensums für die Abschlussklausur weitere Texte verschiedener paganer und christlicher Autoren hinzu. Das gesamte Lektürepensum steht in Form eines Readers in StudIP zur Verfügung. Es wird erwartet, dass die Seminarteilnehmer bereits vor Beginn der Veranstaltung Liv. 1,57-60 gründlich übersetzt und sich mit Hilfe der bekannten Nachschlagewerke über Autor und Werk informiert haben.
Der Text der Abschlussklausur wird irgendeine Stelle des im Reader verfügbaren Lektürepensums sein. Es wird vorausgesetzt, dass alle Teilnehmenden dieses Pensum bis zur Abschlussklausur, die am 25.6.24 stattfindet, vollständig übersetzt haben. Es wird dringend empfohlen, mit der Lektüre mehrere Wochen vor der ersten Seminarsitzung zu beginnen, um nicht während der Vorlesungszeit hinter dem Pensum zurückzubleiben.
